Classes

Picture
We hold several beginners classes a year, depending on interest.  Our classes are 6 weeks long/1 hour each week and are $100.  Upon successful completion of our beginner class, we may hold an intermediate class for those wishing to continue with the sport.

Things to bring to class:
  • Leash and, if you have one, a harness (much easier to grab onto than a collar)
  • Many, many soft treats, cut as small as possible -- you're going to
        be rewarding your dog often
  • A favorite toy/tuggy/ball (to be used as a reward for good performance)

Requirements for class:

  • Dog MUST be non-aggressive towards both people and other dogs.
Flyball is simply not a sport for dogs with issues concerning other
        dogs or people.
  • Dog is at least one year old and in good health (Why this age? Typically, growth plates are not closed by then. )
  • Only one dog per handler.
  • Dog must be under good control of its handler and interested in tennis balls or other toys.
  • Basic obedience skills.

*We have no classes planned for the rest of the year.  Please check back early next year.

Can my dog be a Flyball Dog?

Most dogs can be trained to be a flyball dog.  However, there are a few key requirements that make training easier, the dog more successful and ultimately, happier.
A successful flyball dog........
  • Has a strong recall
  • Has a strong ball drive
  • Is friendly to other dogs and humans.
Flyball can be an intense sport that is fast-paced and exciting.  Tournaments can be very loud and hectic.  Dogs are also running at full speed in such close proximity, any aggression issues are not tolerated and will result in the removal of the dog from the event.  Our goal is to ensure that all dogs on our team are happy and LOVE the sport.
